The location of the hotel was very conveniently located at less than 10 minutes' walk to the Moorgate tube station, City road and the Barbican centre. The room was a good size and the bed was extremely comfortable. Check-in and check-out was quick and efficient.
The faucets of the bathtub was not working properly, therefore, one had to be careful when opening the water and for adjusting the temperature. This was signaled to the front desk.

a bit noisy at times, but not too bad. the tiles on the bathroom floor were loose

The rooms are spacious, well designed and clean.
For second time it happened to me that the heating was not working. Last time they provided me with an unacceptable electric heater. This time I rejected the proposal and they offered me another room. Then, the cistern broke and there was also a hair dryer missing. The maintenanace is 24/7, they are quick and they fixed both problems. Staff is kind but probably I was unlucky

The gym is small and the fitness machines need servicing. Some of them doesn't work. The gym aircondition needs to be improved.

Friendly stuff, super location.
The room was big but have seen better days. Furniture and linen a bit too much worn out. Sometimes the pillow covers don’t hide the stains in the pillows.

The location is excellent, a short walk from Liverpool Street. It was decent for a last minute booking. The staff were friendly
The room was small and although I booked solo travel, the single bed was the smallest I've ever seen, as was the shower. The room was located adjacent to the courtyard area so you could hear lots of noise outside as well as lots of noise in the corridor, not ideal after a night out.

Room was quiet and comfortable. Nice bathroom products.
It took ages to get to my room. the porter was new this week and couldn’t find it. he went off to find a colleague which took ages. He didn’t offer to carry my suitcase. didn’t like the see through walls round the bathroom. not enough privacy.

central to all things that we wanted to visit and do, close to tube station. Staff extremely happy to help when complained about first room give and accommodated a move & provided freebies for my trouble.
This property is rated five star, would only rate as four star. Five star hotel should not have Nescafé coffee sachets.... they are cheap and discussing, thankfully I bought my own coffee. Although in our upgraded room there was a coffee pod machine also.

I was offered an upgrade after none of my requests sent upon booking/prior to arrival were met, and my room was not as depicted online. Special thanks to Dragi for looking after me with regards to that and the complimentary breakfast. Fruit infused drinking water placed in the lobby, gym and spa, added a nice touch. There are hand sanitizer points throughout the building. The breakfast buffet was nice but one has to get there early before the more exotic fruit and pastries run out. There are plenty of restaurants and cafés in the area as alternative options such as Prêt which serves organic coffee or Itsu for a lighter dinner. I enjoyed some art and the tropical garden at The Barbican. The gym and spa facilities are very compact but do the job. Hôtel guests can be booked into the spa for a maximum of half an hour each day of their stay which includes shower time. Realistically one can only fit in a 20 minutes swim or steam bath/sauna in that time and slots get booked up early, but it’s nice to have the option. Ventilation in the gym might need to be improved for summer.
I booked a Deluxe Single room at The Barbican Rooms. The room was not as expected. Booking.com stated the room had a bathtub. I was checked into an easy access room at The Brewery instead so no bathtub and it was dirty. Perhaps Montcalm ran out of rooms. There was no dedicated room service and a lot of staff take over shifts from each other without communicating what a guest has requested multiple times. I advise asking for Marina who is head of Housekeeping and best placed to co-ordinate staff, if the room needs to be cleaned/amenities replaced/something fixed. There was no essence sprayed in my room in either the easy access or Montcalm Club room. I was told the machine they use for it had been loaned to another site and they were waiting for a new cartridge. I had my own organic rose and frankincense essential oils with me which were better than the AmbiPur Cotton Fresh aerosol spritzed in my room. The rooms are not soundproof as I could hear people in the next room and got woken at 4.30am one night by a drunk guest who mistook my room for his and kept trying to open my door. I made the mistake of taking my laptop bag to the spa. I was advised they would put it in the luggage room for safekeeping rather than a locker. I later found my new laptop with a cracked screen and dent in it as if something heavy had been placed on top of it, a suitcase maybe, very disappointed and waiting to hear back from The Royal as to whether I can view CCTV footage of the luggage room while my laptop was in there. My stay felt like I was at a 3/4 star hotel at times, only thanks to a few thoughtful staff members did it end up feeling like a basic 5 star experience by the time I neared the end of my stay. The bath water outlet popped off revealing years of grime. I had to soak it in soapy water for an hour before I could get it all off, after which it fitted back in and worked perfectly. The hairdryer looked extremely worn although it just about worked.

From the perspective of distance to my event venue, it's good. Otherwise, the surrounding is relatively without much activities.
The shower facilities. The water wasn't hot and the bath tub was not functioning.

Check in is at Montcalm by the Brewery (i knew from reading the reviews). They upgraded me to the main building i.e. Montcalm upon check in. Staff was extremely helpful and courteous - from check in, concierge (who showed me the Gym). Like that it has a Gym. Location was brilliant, 10mins walk to Moorgate and my meeting venue, with Barbican theatre and Tesco express a few steps away. Bed was super comfy, a bowl of fruits in the room. Receptionist called immediately upon entering the room asking if everything was ok. Personalised welcome card. Excellent lighting. Full bathtub!
The window was high up, i couldnt see out of, so it can feel claustrophobic. They did allow me to change room when i requested but i decided to not change. The gym was in the basement of another building, i didnt feel safe going there alone so i didnt use the gym. There wasnt any space/ luggage tray to open the luggage. Overall though i would stay here again if the price is right!

The room had everything I needed, and the staff were really nice.
The Barbican Rooms are a separate bit of the Montcalm at the Brewery hotel, tucked away across the other side of the courtyard. I assume this is the budget/value part of the hotel, and the rooms (and price!) reflected this. Not a problem, but the way it is marketed on Booking.com doesn't really make this clear.

Kasi greeted me at reception and was very welcoming, friendly and offered to upgrade my room which made my day. The room was stunning, it had everything I needed and I had a comfortable stay. Amazing location and 5 mins walk from the tube station.
No issues

The staff was amiable, especially Carla was super helpful and supportive. There was a mistake about my stay; it was supposed to be Barbican Room but the residence was closed and the information was not given to me before my arrival at the hotel. Carla recovered from the unexpected situation very well.
You took out extra money (50 GBP) as a deposit I didn't know about before then. And it is still pending on my account. Could you please finalize this as soon as possible?

I liked that the staff of this facility was very accommodating to us as guest . I felt safe and welcomed
The heater in the Room didn’t work for 3 nights of our 4 night stay and it was pretty cold in London so we needed heat . Also not too sure if it didn’t work or if staff didn’t know how to start it either when they first came but when maintenance came the second day to turn it on they didn’t show us how to work the heater ourselves
